Kboodle for Care Professionals

Help your team get to know residents through life stories shared by the families who know them best.

As an adult care professional, you know the best care starts with understanding the person you’re serving. Kboodle gives families a way to create a life story for their loved one, with photos, videos, and audio organized on a timeline. When you introduce Kboodle to the families in your community, you give them a meaningful way to stay connected, and you give your team a richer picture of each resident.

What it asks of your community

Families usually create and manage the life story, and your community doesn’t need to purchase anything. Introducing Kboodle is optional for families, so there’s nothing for you to enforce. Share a note and let families decide.

Share Kboodle with families

It takes two steps: copy a note, then add the link.

Step 1: Copy a note

Copy one of these into your newsletter, welcome packet, or email.

Dear families,

We wanted to share something that some families find meaningful. Kboodle is an online place where you can bring together your loved one’s photos, videos, and stories into a life story, to look through together when you visit. You can invite other relatives to add their own memories, and if you’d like, share it with our care team, so we can get to know your loved one even better.

There’s no obligation, and no one needs to take part. If you’re interested, you can learn more here.

Warmly,

A way to share your loved one’s story

Photos, videos, and stories carry so much of who a person is. Kboodle is an online place to bring them together into a life story, to look through during a visit and to share with relatives and with our care team, so we can get to know your loved one even better. It’s entirely optional. If you’re interested, you can learn more here.

Step 2: Add the link

Choose the page that fits your community, and copy its web address:

Then highlight the words “learn more here” in your note, click the link button in your email or newsletter program, and paste the web address you chose.

If you manage more than one community, you can use a different address for each.

Bring a life story to the bedside

With Kboodle QR Pictures™ and Kboodle QR Stickers™, you can print any photo of a resident with an embedded QR code, or print a Kboodle QR Sticker™, and post it on their room door or bedside. Anyone who scans the code can open the Kboodle Album it links to, including the videos, audio recordings, and interests the family has added.

Build community

With the permission of the resident and family, these pictures can also be posted in common areas, so residents and visitors can learn about each other’s lives and accomplishments.

See the whole person, not just the preferences

Kboodle organizes memories chronologically, following the natural flow of a person’s life, so your team sees the full story. For example, knowing that Mrs. Johnson was a professional pianist in her twenties, taught lessons while raising children, and played for church services into her seventies gives you far more to work with than “she likes music.”

A note on privacy

QR pictures and stickers are public, so anyone who scans one can view what it links to. Families decide what to include, and we recommend keeping personal and sensitive details, such as addresses, full birth dates, financial information, and medical or care instructions, out of any album linked to a QR code.

Partner with families

Creating a life story can be a meaningful activity that brings generations together. When families see you engage with their loved one’s personal history, they know you’re caring for the whole person.

Kboodle is a storytelling tool. It is not a medical record, a clinical system, or a treatment, and it does not replace professional care or your facility’s documentation and privacy practices.
